The United States will submit to the UN General Assembly on February 24 a draft resolution on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on his X page.

According to him, on Monday the US "will propose to the United Nations a landmark resolution the entire UN membership should support in order to chart a path to peace." Rubio also pointed out that US President Donald Trump is "committed to ending" the Ukraine conflict.A US State Department statement attached to the post indicated that Trump is committed to "ending the Russia-Ukraine war and to a resolution that leads to a lasting peace, not just a temporary pause." The draft resolution developed by the United States " is consistent with President Trump’s view that the UN must return to its founding purpose, as enshrined in the UN Charter." "If the United Nations is truly committed to its original purpose, we must acknowledge that while challenges may arise, the goal of lasting peace remains achievable," the statement added. The resolution also says that the conflict in Ukraine "is awful," and "the UN can help end it."

"We strongly believe that this is the moment to commit to ending [the conflict]. [Adoption of the resolution] is our opportunity to build real momentum toward peace," the statement said
