Washington prepares to host Feckless Macron - ANALYSIS

America is blessed to have Donald Trump as president and his historic proclamation naming as the Gulf of America the entire coastline from Cancun curving through southern Texas, Luisiana and ending in Florida Keys, is a testimony to his fearless vision and geopolitically relevant leadership in Making America Great Again. “The Gulf of America” rapidly echoed across the world a renewed strength of U. S. Diplomacy and propelled forward Washington’s core national interests in the Americas.
As Ukraine is entering into the fourth year of a large-scale war with Russia, the Trump Administration is doing everything possible to bring this unnecessary conflict to an end, in contempt of France’s and Germany’s unwise disagreements on how the dynamic Washington – Moscow diplomatic discussions have evolved from the latest bilateral meeting hosted by Saudi Arabia’s Government. Riyadh’s discussions of February 18th, will set forth and restore diplomatic relations between Washington and Moscow and bring an end to the war in Ukraine, something that Volodymyr Zelenskiy and his French, Danish and German friends have grossly failed to accomplish.
The ongoing conflict is seriously crumbling Ukraine’s statehood while its EU allies are faced with domestic economic difficulties. Paris, Berlin and Brussels are unable to allocate adequate resources to their defense budgets, European leaders are growing stubborn day by day and refusing to accept the reality in the ground. European leaders’ emergency Ukraine summit hosted by Macron reassured the International Community of the weakness reigning across the axis of Paris – Berlin – Copenhagen – Kyiv.
Zelenskyy’s refusal to welcome U. S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who traveled in harsh weather, many miles by train to reach Kyiv, was a huge blunder committed by Ukraine’s head of state. Zelenskyy should have immediately signed the draft agreement presented by Secretary Bessent, this deal would have awarded to Washington over half of the value of Ukraine’s mineral and other resources in exchange for American economic support, provided over the last eleven years. This was a very legitimate request made by Washington, while France and other EU Nations have not donated a single penny to Ukraine, in fact they have only issued loans and donated Soviet Era military equipment.
The greedy European Union has recovered every dime loaned to Kyiv. As scholars and practitioners concentrate on the relations between the United States and Europe; next week, perhaps on Monday February 24th, they will observe closely the agenda of French President Emmanuel Macron during his visit to the White House. As Europe’s principal leader, although with a weak popularity in France, Macron will discuss President Trump’s upcoming deal with Vladimir Putin, to immediately end the war in Ukraine, draw new defining lines of great power competition in Europe and halt Ukraine’s aspirations to join NATO.
The upcoming Trump – Putin Summit is expected to supersede the geo strategic importance of the WWII Potsdam Conference, where the leaders of United States, the United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union, decided how to rebuild Germany after the War. This meeting took place in Germany from July 17 to August 2, 1945.
Both EU and Ukraine are left scrambling for options as President Trump is genuinely committed and determined, unlike any other head of state, to bring a lasting peace to Ukraine.
The United States President has shown unbridled leadership and attractive tactics on how begin a new chapter of dialogue between Washington and Moscow.
The next week’s upcoming press conference between the French and U. S. heads of state is expected to focus on trade tariffs, legitimate reciprocal commercial posture of Washington towards Brussels, and delve into EU’s weakness and beleaguered defense budget. Brussels and NATO have proved to be weak, feckless and irrelevant when it comes to preserving Ukraine’s territorial integrity and supplying Kyiv with military materiel.
In full sync with recent statement made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the Russian Government is ready for a "serious process" to end the war and make a deal.
While some of Kyiv’s supporters in Congress have called President Trump’s statements on Ukraine, as a betrayal, it is disturbing how U. S. legislators including U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen, who is unfairly criticizing the U. S. Head of State on the senate floor (February 19, 2025) using an ugly rhetoric for political gain and refuses to acknowledge the reality. Macron is expected to express his disagreement on Washington’s current, dynamic posture towards Ukraine and obviously will have to deal with reciprocal and fair tariffs that will be imposed by the Trump Administration. Such trade tariffs to be imposed by the White House are long overdue; they should have been activated by the previous corrupt government of Joe Biden. For France and the entire EU block, the age of taking advantage of America’s highly competitive market, without paying any tariffs, is over.
